OC PAROC is attending BAU to present solutions that shrink the footprint, not the quality

17 Apr 2023
The world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems is starting in Munich, Germany. OC PAROC is launching the new EPDs that show a 78% decrease in the GWP values of PAROC® roof insulation products in Central Europe.

Owens Corning PAROC is attending BAU 2023 – the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems – in Munich, Germany, from April 17 to 22 and presenting solutions and news that fit perfectly with the fair’s focus: sustainability.

The big news is that the new environmental product declarations – EPDs – show a significant decrease in the carbon footprint of PAROC® roof insulation products in Central Europe (full lifecycle, A1–C4). The Global Warming Potential (GWP total) values of PAROC® Tectum 037, Premo 90 and Robust 038 are 78% lower than before.

The significant decrease is a result of our continuous efforts to decarbonize our production. In 2022, the two electric melting furnaces at our Polish factory switched to 100% renewable electricity. The switch reduced CO₂ emissions in our European stone wool production by 30% and directly impacts the footprint of our products.

At BAU, we are offering a closer look into roof insulation products that not only offer excellent thermal conductivity, compressive strength and fire safety, but also provide opportunities for our customers to reduce the carbon footprint of the entire building without having to compromise on quality.

We are also launching PAROC® Premo 90 with an improved compressive strength of 90 kPa.

Introducing the REWOOL customer take-back system in Germany

In addition to the stone wool insulation products, OC PAROC is presenting its customer take-back service REWOOL at BAU. Based on the positive experience in Sweden and Finland, we are currently piloting REWOOL in Germany with selected customers. The aim is to develop a well-functioning take-back model that makes it easy and convenient for customers to sort and ship the offcuts from their construction sites.

“Circular economy is much more than taking back waste and recycling it, although recycling is one of the key elements of circularity. REWOOL enables our customers to recycle the offcuts and give that material a second life”, says Thomas Kayser, Circular Economy Lead, Europe.

BAU 2023 will bring together more than 2,200 exhibitors from 49 countries and showcase innovations and trends in the construction industry in an area of 200,000 square meters. OC PAROC can be found in Hall A1, booth 520.

'Values presented in the published EPD document NEPD-4337-3565-EN (EPD Document).
